Anti-Racism Resource Share

Last week, a wave of resources on anti-racism got shared with the world. Now, it’s time to dig deeper and keep doing the work. We’d like like to provide the opportunity for all of us to continue diving into these with an Anti-Racism Resource Share.

This is a chance for people who would like to be better allies and accomplices to discuss some of these materials and connect with others reading the same books or articles so you can have an accountability buddy. We’re not leaders in this space by any means but it is important that we elevate the work of people, particularly Black women, who are creating such valuable work during this time and always.

We’ve never charged for Coffee Talk or Full-Time Internet, but this week, in honor of the folx who are creating these materials, we’d like to encourage you to donate what you can to Black Girls Code, The Loveland Foundation or Black Women’s Health Imperative.

Sign up is open now, so drop us your email and we will send you a link to the invitation-

Full Time Internet 04: Building Community on the Internet

Thursday, May 28th, 2020

How can we keep coming together even if we’re real far apart?

We were joined by Chicago comedy, voice acting and writing star Alex Kumin, long time host of Cole’s Open Mic to talk about how they brought a very in person event very online. We discussed comedy’s responsibility to the world through times of change and how to build a place where folks can continue to grow through quarantine. Alex has also continued to teach women how to be stand up comedians, all online. How’s that working out? It turns out it’s a lot easier to get into comedy from your PJs!

Check out Alex’s work and stop by for the next Coles’ Zoom open Mic on Wednesdays.

The question on all of our minds: how much do we need to adapt?

Kelsey and Mallory talk about some of the ways they have helped businesses optimize during quarantine. We were joined by Christine Cikowski (Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Sunday Dinner Club) who, along with other Chicago chefs and restauranteurs, created the Chicago Hospitality Coalition.
